Not only is having a proper workout plan in place essential for being productive and effective, having the right playlist can also really affect your performance. There's nothing better than being so immersed in your music that you don't even realize how intensely you've been pushing yourself.

From warm-ups to cool-downs, your playlists can shape the way your workouts turn out. A fun, fast-paced and upbeat song may be what you need to run that extra mile. A classic throwback might be just the thing to get you to smile through that last set while a softer and more calming song will help bring your heart rate down after that final push.

The perfect warm-up songs start slow, allowing you to clear your mind and get into the mental headspace to have a focused and effective training so that when the beat finally drops you know its time to go. Personally, I rely on upbeat music during weight training but especially during cardio to give me that extra boost of energy I might be lacking after a long day. My music plays an essential role in determining the intensity of my training which is why I find myself drawn to a good hip-hop playlist. With that being said, here are some of my favourite songs that get me in the zone and keep me on track.
