Love the burn!
I’m not the biggest fan of Valentine’s day. Honestly, I find it a little tacky and over commercialized. Hearts are everywhere and hope in the air. The pressure is on to make over blown romantic gestures and declare your feelings more on February 14th than any other day of the year.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for celebrating love, but my husband and I have always made sure that Valentine’s day was more about spending time together than money on each other.
Health and fitness aren’t the obvious objective for this day of love, but it is a day when your focus can be about enjoying the “workout” and spending some quality time with your partner. (There is a better way to burn calories on Valentine’s than forgetting your dinner in the oven!)
Ever wonder how many calories you burn during sex? A team from the University of Montreal researched this and found that on average a 25 minute session demanded 101 calories from men and just 69 from women, (Pick up the pace ladies!) burning an average of 3.6 calories per minute. The longer the session, the more calories burned. Position/positions used and pace are also influencing factors.
So this February 14th help save the environment and skip the cards and flowers. Save the money you'd spend on sexy underwear as it only burns 8 calories taking it off anyway.
Make sure you love yourself before anyone else. Whether or not you have someone special to share Valentine’s day with, be aware that a chocolate Lindt ball in your mouth is going to cost you 75 calories. A 4oz glass of Champagne past your lips is 95. That’s counterbalanced by only 25 minutes of nooky.
Hopefully you’ll be able to work it all off with the same enjoyment as consuming it!
Lots of love
Rachel
